A Meditation on the Speed Limit - Performance Art

No one has called this event art, but I think it should be considered a brilliant performance piece, or motion based interstate graffiti... or something. If you live in Atlanta, you know the traffic hell we live in with the longest average commute in the country and some of the worst traffic jams. Our interstates have a speed limit of 55 miles per hour and they are only obeyed when there is such heavy traffic you don't have a choice but to drive that slowly.

I-285, the circular highway around Atlanta became the target of a group of Georgia State students attempting prove a point that the speed limit of 55 is ridiculous, and weather you agree with their point or not, they altered the interstate environment in such a way and made something that I think was fairly beautiful. They jumped in four cars and each one got in a lane on I-285. They then all drove right next to each other driving 55 miles per hour; the speed limit. They created this wall of traffic as everything backed up behind them that was wonderful.
