Design Idea Generation Activities

In my industrial design undergrad days, some professors pushed us to use idea generating activities whether we needed them for a certain project or not. This site is simply called ideagenerationmethods.com and has a lot of other really great methods.

The other thing that I noticed while reading through some of these methods is that they seem to be more passive than I was ever taught in school. In other words, the job of the design director who's leading the brainstorming session isn't to stop the meeting and say "ok we're going to do X activity now". These were meant to be directional activities not methods by which to work.
