Thomas Hart Benton - Painting

When I was twelve years old, I remember going through the Nelson Atkins Art Museum in Kansas City and coming across Thomas Hart Benton's Portrait of Carl Ruggles, absolutely loving it, and then never seeing an image of the piece again until I accidentally came across it today.

Thomas Hart Benton is probably one of the least appreciated 20th century American painters, and that's a shame. His works are dynamic, thoughtful, full of storytelling grace. Click on the image above to see some of his work.
