Inc Phone - Industrial Design

Market-intelligence company PMN recently asked product design agency Alloy to design a range of phones that are tailored to the needs of specific individuals. One of the new designs is the Inc phone, which is intended to meet the needs of older consumers. The Inc boasts an easy-to-read LCD display showing caller information, large keypad graphics and numerals, contoured sides for simple opening and a simplified screen that makes navigation child's play.

It's sad that simple navigation and ease of opening are considered specialty features. Shouldn't that be standard?

Yea, Blueprint Magazine had a design editorial recently that discussed universal design and it proposed that all good design should be universal, there should be no need for this taxonomy of products. If the product is not universal, it's bad.
