This is fantastic! As a former cold-type and digital typesetter who spend about 10 early years in the hot type world, I found this heartening, not just because the product is so beautiful but also because the process is still a source of joy to this man! I miss the 3-dimensional restraints that in fact kept type from being misused and abused.... On the other hand, I like the democratization of this wonderful craft. Now to just figure out how to teach students about type, without the advantage of working with hot type and the letterpress process!! Next time I'm in Somerville, I hope to be able to somehow connect with the Firefly Press.
