Christo - Central Park Gates
Christo has a new installation up in Central Park and I'm having problems generating an opinion on it. My gut reaction is that it's sub-par compared to his other works. What am I missing here? Christo seems to be accenting the elegant details of the park and their paths rather than create a monumental piece of work like when he wraps entire building. This is a more subtle departure for Christo than some of his work.
Christo's work is all about the process of making it happen and then the photos and interaction between the work and people and nature with it. In this he was successful.
